According to The Associated Press, no one was hurt in the incident, and everyone on board was evacuated safely.
Images from the scene show the aircraft departed the left side of the runway and travelled part of the way down a steep coastal slope, coming to rest a short distance from the sea. The mud stopped the craft from plummeting into the Black Sea. The six-member crew, including two pilots, was also evacuated and Pegasus said there were no injuries.
State-run Anadolu news agency said there was panic on board as the plane went out of control. Flights were suspended at Trabzon Airport for several hours after the incident before resuming again Sunday. "There was panic, people shouting, screaming", passenger Fatma Gordu was quoted as saying. "The front of the plane crashed and the back was in the air".
