Guillermo del Toro's fantasy romance, "The Shape of Water", was the top film victor with four awards.

All the Money in the World was not nominated at the show, but Plummer was nominated at last weekend's Golden Globes and has been again for next month's Bafta Film Awards - both in the Best Supporting Actor category.

While accepting the Best Picture honour, filmmaker del Toro praised the women who made "The Shape Of Water" possible, including stars Sally Hawkins and Octavia Spencer, reports the Entertainment Weekly.

The Critics Choice Awards continued Hollywood's support of the recent #TimesUp movement. I think, as men, we've been talking for centuries.

"In my life, I pride myself on taking responsibility for things that I've done", Franco told Colbert on Tuesday.

After his win, several women alluded to Franco's alleged history of misconduct on Twitter.

The Best Comedy Movie honor went to The Big Sick and Wonder Woman was deemed Best Action Movie. On Sunday, they attended Golden Globes afterparties together where Cuoco wore a black dress with similar sheer elements. "Just that was great, but we have to keep it going".

The biggest shift is that now accusers are being believed, she said.

Double winners Thursday included "I, Tonya", "Darkest Hour", "Get Out" and "Coco".

Gary Oldman, Tom Hanks and Jake Gyllenhaal are all in the running for best actor gong, while, Meryl Streep, Margot Robbie and Jessica Chastain will battle it out for best actress.

Coco also won a pair of awards, for song and animated feature, while The Florida Project star Brooklynn Prince won the best young actor/actress award.

"The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, who picked up a best comedy award at Critics' Choice, echoed the hope that the conversation and movement would continue to make an impact.
