"If your boyfriend says bad things to you and/or treats you wrong, that means that he's acting like a n****r", he said, the report claims.
A Florida teacher has been suspended after his school district concluded he repeatedly used the N-word in class. WJAX reported that David Swinyar, a teacher at Kernan Middle School, was suspended for 10 days without pay. After, "he will be reassigned to an appropriate district position with no contact with students for the remainder of the year", wrote Dr. Patricia Willis to school board members.
Swinyar is also accused of making female students uncomfortable by staring at their breasts and other parts and erratic behavior toward students.
In addition, Swinyar is also accused of telling a student, according to CNN, "If my daughter was dating someone who used the 'F-word, ' I wouldn't have any respect for that n--". It also states he told students, they were dumb and that "You should not be dating all these different African-American boys because they are not worth it".
Wright said the teacher could be assigned a number of jobs that don't involve students.
Swinyar tried to defend himself by saying he attends a black church, but then broke out in laughter and started mocking black preachers, according to students.
Shine said the emails are from parents, concerned about how Swinyar could still be employed.
After Swinyar used the racial slur during the October incident, a student in his class went to the school's office to call his mother and tell her about what happened. When a student called a parent to complain about the remarks, Swinyar allegedly grabbed the phone from the student's hand to prevent the call.
On Tuesday night, the Duval County School Board agreed to Swinyar's 10-day suspension.
Along with the racially motivated comments, Swinyar is accused of calling students "idiots", adding "You are in my class because you failed the FSA", a standardized test given out yearly in Florida schools.
The school district says the suspension is its way of taking this incident seriously as they "skipped" the customary steps of issuing the teacher verbal and written reprimands.
Swinyar has been with DCPS for five years and has never been disciplined or under investigation.
