The Oscar victor and his wife, Livia Giuggioli, a movie producer, released a statement saying she was "involved with" an Italian journalist named Marco Brancaccia. who is also friends with the couple.
The truth has come out about Livia Giuggiolo, wife of Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth, and her history with a journalist who she claimed stalked her. Giuggiolo admitted that she had an affair with the man, Marco Brancaccia. A few years ago Colin and Livia privately made the decision to separate.
Rosita Vallone, a lawyer representing Brancaccia, told The Times: "The first we heard about a request for trial being made was from the Italian press".
A social media photo of Marco Brancaccia. As a outcome of his stalking, threats and refusal to desist, the legal complaint was lodged with the Italian authorities.
He went on to add that the couple's marriage had "been over for years". Brancaccia also allegedly threatened to write articles about them at ANSA, the Italian publication where he works. He is still employed at ANSA as of this writing.
Branaccia has also spoken out about the claims, strongly refuting Giuggioli's version of events. The statement concludes that much of the reporting "is understood to be the effect of a leaked court document".
"This is greatly to be regretted", said the statement.
