Jose Mourinho says Manchester United fans booing will not hurt him

Mourinho's comments in the wake of United's defeat to Sevilla angered a section of the club's fans but he continues to peddle the same song that they are not equipped to compete with Europe's elite.

You may have heard about it, you may have read some quotes from it, but here it is Jose Mourinho's incredible press conference ahead of Manchester United's FA Cup quarter final against Brighton.

"The United players that left the club last season; see where they play, how they play, if they play", he said of Wayne Rooney, Adnan Januzaj, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin, Victor Valdes, Paddy McNair, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Donald Love.

"They have to survive and when they survive they become stronger".

The highest-paid player on Sevilla's books is surprisingly Everton loanee Sandro Ramirez on €135,000-a-week, which compared to a number of United's stars - mainly Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba - that figure is pretty low.

"The last time United won the Champions League which didn't happen a lot of times, was in 2008". "'Here he is again.' 'Here he wins again.' 'Here he is again.' 'Here he wins again.' So for 10 months, I win nothing". I told you that with these words because I can not tell you with different words while I am still in competition. "I sit in this chair twice in the Champions League and I knock out Man Utd at home, at Old Trafford", he said.

"It's the same thing. I am here and I am going to be here and no way am I going to change my mentality".

Attack: Alexis Sanchez produced another hugely disappointing performance in midweek so I think we could see the Chilean global dropping to the bench tomorrow night.

"We are not happy because we are out of the Champions League, but this is football", Matic told reporters after the game.

"I understand that for many, many, many years was really, really hard for the people who doesn't like me: "Here he is again, here he wins again.' For 10 months I win nothing, the last title that I won was 10 months ago". But the prospect of a trip to Wembley, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur (two teams Mourinho has beaten this season) remaining as United's biggest rivals, would provide a reason to smile following a grim few days. "In Sevilla, there are many players who would play in my team".

It's clear that in Jose Mourinho's world, the problem is not Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho then pointed to United's Premier League record and that of Manchester City's.

"We have to be focused on that because they're a good team and we have to win".

'One thing is to go for the jugular and another is to build in a different process.

"If the clubs that are in a better situation than us stop investing and we invest, we are side to side". It's as simple as that.

"The people, they listen to the ideologists and they also listen to the idiots".

"In my dictionary, which is the dictionary of life, a person with a lot of ideas can be an ideologist or idealist, or an idiot".
