Patty Jenkins tweeted, "So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes!" It is true! We are incredibly fortunate to welcome the talented and the sensational Kristen Wiig in our family Wonder Woman. "And SO excited by what we have planned", Jenkins wrote.
The comedy star and Saturday Night Live standout will portray the DC comics villain Cheetah.
"Wonder Woman", which took place during World War II, is now available on Blu-ray and DVD, and via streaming platforms, following its June 2017 theatrical release. "I'm so excited to welcome on board Kristen! This is going to be WONDERful!"
For those uninitiated, the Cheetah "typically looks like an ordinary woman, but has the ability to morph into a human-cheetah hybrid, complete with increased speed, strength, and agility".
Questions still remain beyond Wiig being cast as Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva a.k.a. Cheetah (assuming the film will be adapting the actual Cheetah, not a jealous thief who frames Diana for robbery).
The casting, as shocking as it may be at first, is one of the first official details concerning Wonder Woman's sequel. Jenkins said she doesn't see it as the second film, and instead, it's a whole new adventure. However, Wiig managed to thrive on major films such as "The Martian".
