CHARLOTTE, N.C. - If Texas A&M wanted to buckle in the first round of the NCAA men's basketball tournament, the Aggies had their chance.
The Aggies struggled throughout most of the game, ending with a 52.90 (36-of-68) shooting percentage compared to Drake's 53.20 (33-of-62) percent. North Carolina next plays Texas A&M. "They would throw the ball in nearly every possession and when doubled they would get tough layups We tried to limit their second shot opportunities, but as good as a team they was, they got some crucial ones".

It wasn't until a 12-2 run with about nine minutes remaining in the second half that the Aggies truly put the game out of reach. This is the Aggies' 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, the eighth-longest active streak in the nation.
Providence fought back behind a barrage of three-pointers to forge a 50-50 tie.
Becca Hittner, the reigning Missouri Valley Conference player of the year, had 19 points. Some of those doubts lingered into the postseason as Providence was picked by at least a few folks to pull off the modest upset.
"Robert was more active offensively than he's been in a while", said Aggies coach Billy Kennedy of Williams and his activity which led to a leak-out tomahawk slam dunk late in the game, "He's raised his game up a level, knowing he has to play more aggressive this week".
"We're just out there doing our job", Davis said.
At various points, the game against the unsafe Big East squad mirrored some of the ebbs and flows of A&M's season. Hell, A&M had more blocked shots (8) than Providence had fast break points (six).
KANSAS STATE 69, CREIGHTON 59: Barry Brown scored 18 points and ninth-seeded Kansas State (23-11) beat No. 8 Creighton (21-12) at Charlotte, North Carolina.
Eventually, the team that lost in the finals of the Big East tournament made a run behind senior forward Rodney Bullock, who scored a game-high 22 points, and sophomore guard Alpha Diallo, who tallied 21 points.
The Friars beat Xavier in the Big East tournament and held their own against Villanova to lose by 10 points in the title game. Shooting guard Gilder is pretty good at knocking down jumpers, but the rest of A&M's guards are mediocre or worse from the floor.
