Musicians can now post messages directly to their Google Search Featured Panels

Today, Google announces that Google Posts are now available to musicians so fans can follow them the same way. Google notes artist using it to share updates, concert details, and other similar social content. Tapping on one will expand the post as a popup and hide the results page behind. According to Google, any musician with a Featured Panel can get verified to gain access to start posting to their Featured Panel.

The folks on WebmasterWorld feel a bit skeptical about this but the truth is, it really isn't much different than what Google My Business owners can do with their Google Posts.

This expansion of the social feature includes famous artists like Lorde, Steve Aoki, Sia, Son Little, Sofi Tukker, Shakira, and Kygo. Any musician, whose search result has a Knowledge Panel, meets the criteria to post the updates in the form of images, videos, GIFs, and text. Fans will be able to tell if the updates are legit by the blue checkmark next to the artist's name. Simply perform a Google search and you can see the artists update in a sort of Twitter-feed kind of format.
