The Handmaid's Tale first aired on 26 April 2017 and went on to bag the Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Television Series this year.
Grim: 'Wear the red dress, wear the wings, shut your mouth, be a good girl, roll over and spread your legs, ' Elisabeth Moss's Offred can be heard whispering.
In a move that was surely planned, The Handmaid's Tale dropped a new Season 2 trailer on Thursday, aka International Women's Day. Yes, ma'am. May the Lord open.
The first two episodes of the second season will begin streaming on Wednesday, April 25. As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) is a Handmaid in the Commander's household, one of the castes of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate the world. The series was created by Bruce Miller, with Miller writing and executive producing.
The 13-episode second season will be shaped by Offred's pregnancy and her ongoing fight to free her future child from the dystopian horrors of Gilead. "In Season 2, Offred and all our characters will fight against-or succumb to-this dark truth".
Adapted from the classic novel by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid's Tale is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. Aunt Lydia, too, makes a split-second appearance.
