FOX25 reports that Victor Minjarez, the father of the child, was arrested after authorities found him hiding out in a home off of the 3000 block of Venice Blvd.

Online records show Minjarez was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail for first-degree murder and desecrating a human corpse.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.

Police found the 7-month-old's body a short time later and the father was charged with murder.

However, authorities have now said the case qualifies as an Amber Alert. According to an earlier police statement, Minjarez allegedly violently attacked the baby's mother and then fled the scene with Jody in a U-Haul pickup truck.

The Norman Police Department has issued an Amber Alert for a missing and endangered infant.

Police said they were unable to locate Minjarez because he was homeless.

Victor Minjarez has since sent a text message to a friend telling her to tell the victim that she would never see her son again.

Police called off the Amber Alert later on Wednesday after they discovered Jody's body. However, investigators believe he is likely in the Oklahoma City metro, possibly staying at a motel or with a friend.

The state medical examiner's office will determine the cause and manner of the death.

During an interview, Victor admitted to taking the child to the Oklahoma City residence.
