Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washington to star in, produce 'Little Fires Everywhere' adaptation

Reese Witherspoon has been attached to Little Fires Everywhere for a while, as her production company bought the rights to adapting the book shortly after it was released back in 2017. Deadline reports the two stars are producing a new TV show based on the book Little Fires Everywhere.

The project will go through ABC Signature, ABC Studios' streaming division, and will be co-produced by Hello Sunshine and ABC Signature.

Witherspoon and Washington will both star in and executive produce the project. Author Ng will serve as a producer. The story centers on the events surrounding the controversial adoption of a Chinese-American baby which divides the wealthy town of Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Witherspoon also shared news on her Instagram page and posted, "Yall!"

"Sometimes you need to scorch everything to the ground, and start over", Celeste Ng wrote in her best-selling novel Little Fires Everywhere. "I love this beautiful book about motherhood and I cant wait to finally collaborate with one of my favourite actresses".

Witherspoon is now working on three TV series, including Big Little Lies season 2, and an untitled Apple series that will co-star Jennifer Aniston. She is also slated to executive produce the pilot for the potential ABC comedy Man of the House starring How I Met Your Mother's Alyson Hannigan. Washington also starred and exec produced HBO's Emmy-nominated telepic Confirmation, for which she earned a nomination for her role as Anita Hill. She has LA Woman dramedy in the works at Hulu based on Eve Babitz's memoirs via TiStar TV.
