'The Emoji Movie' Named Worst Picture At 2018 Razzie Awards

The Emoji Movie was like an idea dreamed up by Peter Dinklage's hot-tempered children's book author Miles Finch from Elf.

Now that we have the worst performances of 2017 sorted, it is time we honor the best performances of 2017 at the 90 Academy Awards scheduled to take place on March 4.

The Sony Pictures Animation film broke new records at the annual ceremony dedicated to the worst in cinema, winning all four of its main nominations. The Emoji Movie. The biggest victor of this year's award function, the movie not only won worst film, it was also awarded Worst Screen Combo, Worst Director, and Worst Screenplay.

As for the acting prizes, Tom Cruise was named Worst Actor for The Mummy (beating out Johnny Depp, Jamie Dornan, Zac Efron and Mark Wahlberg) and Tyler Perry took home Worst Actress for his gender-bending turn in Boo 2!

This is indeed a historical achievement in the field of animation.

The animated film beat other dud 2017 films such as Baywatch, Fifty Shades Darker, The Mummy and Transformers: The Last Knight to win an infamous Golden Rasberry award. To add insult to injury, this was able to win Worst Picture, and yet not a single animated film has won the Oscar for Best Picture.

This year's Razzies also included an "In Memoriam" montage.

The film, which is obviously about emojis and obviously stars James Corden, did spectacularly well on the night, being described by the committee as a "talking poop-opus" and picking up awards for worst picture, director and screenplay. "Fifty Shades Darker" also took the award for "Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel". However, it was Baywatch that ended up winning that award.
