Evoni works as a waitress in a Waffle House in La Marque, Texas, to save money for her college tuition. "Her act of kindness went viral on social media, and today Texas Southern University returned that act of kindness by surprising Evoni Williams with a scholarship", they said.

But on March 3rd what she did for a sick elderly customer was captured in a photo that went viral. "My cook was calling my name to pick up food I had on the board, but I continued to cut his ham".

Witnessing the heartrending scene, a patron named Laura Wolf was so touched by the young woman's gesture she took a picture of Williams assisting the partially disabled man and shared it on Facebook.

"I was just like, 'Sure!"

"I was never raised to bash people. and was raised to try and help, and try and give", Williams told a local television station.

"I heard this elderly man tell (Evoni) his hands don't work too good", Wolf posted. Despite the attention, she said she felt it was the right thing to do.

The City of La Marque reposted Wolf's post and commended Williams for her selfless act. Williams, who says she wants to study business management, was assigned a counselor by Texas Southern University to help her enroll in their program and start her degree.

The mayor of La Marque, Bobby Hocking, chose to express his gratitude for Williams as well - by declaring March 8, 2018 as Evoni "Nini" Williams Day, a day in her honor.

"Evoni always has a smile on her face", said Waffle House manager Mundarius Wright.
