Hardy, who is 40 years old, was arrested at 10:20 pm on March 10, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported, citing the Cabarrus County Sherriff's Office.

According to Carrabus County Court records, Hardy is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, April 16; eight days after WrestleMania.

The report says the vehicle caused an estimated $5,000 (£3,602) in damages to the guardrail, which was owned by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and around $8,000 (£5,764) worth of damage to his 2016 Cadillac CTS-V. It is unknown if he suffered any injuries. No details have been released yet on the circumstances leading to the arrest except to say that he was reportedly impaired while driving.

The legendary high-flyer had received medical clearance from his surgeon to get back into the ring.

Jeff Hardy's arrest for DWI didn't take long to sweep the internet, and WWE has already issued a statement on the incident.

He was forced to go under the knife after suffering a torn rotator cuff and labrum in October.

WWE Superstar Jeff Hardy fields questions from fans during the opening day of Wizard World Philadelphia 2017 in Philadelphia, PA on June 1, 2017. "We are investigating the matter and awaiting information from local law enforcement officials". The report also indicates Hardy underwent some sort of test for alcohol but that the results were pending at the time of the arrest. It's believed that Hardy will be added to the current feud between brother Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt.
