Instead of taking Reddy's allegations seriously, the MAA banned her from membership and also said that they would take action against any actor who would work with her, and the state government charged her with obscenity for her protest. Though many people know that there is casting couch issue in Tollywood but none complained about this but after Sri Reddy show started attacking few celebrities many small female artists coming forward and sharing their sufferings and experiences. The Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 makes it mandatory for any organisation to have a committee to deal with complaints of sexual harassment at work place.

The commision issued notices to Telangana Government and Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry over the allegations raised by the actress.

The NHRC stated in a press release that it felt that the contents of the media reports, if true, are tantamount to inaction on the part of the state government.

Telugu actress Sri Reddy, who has worked in 3 films so far, shook the entire Telugu cinema when she strip protested in front of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce on April 7 against casting couch and sexual exploitation in Tollywood and demanded justice for herself and other victims.

Sri Reddy, television anchor-turned-actress, had stripped in front of Movie Artistes Association's (MAA) head office in the city last week in protest, alleging sexual abuse of women artistes by industry bigwigs. The Producers' Council president has also stated that the Committee against Sexual Harassment would be set up in four days. The Commission also opposed the police case and said that this appears to muzzle the voice of whistle blower both from MAA and the State authorities.

According to MAA president Shivaji Raja, the committee would have senior actors, filmmakers from Telugu film Industry and also members from outside the industry.

On the otherside, Sri Reddy alleged that Suresh Babu's son and Rana Daggubati's brother Abhiram Daggubati sexually exploited her.
