CRPF Jawans Run Over As Vehicle Attacked By Stone Throwers In Kashmir

According to police, the vehicle of CRPF 164 BN collided with the motorcycle after it came under stone-pelting at Hiller Kokernag, resulting in injuries to three persons riding on the two-wheeler and injuries to the driver of the vehicle. The two CRPF troopers died on the spot while another trooper and a policeman were injured.

Anantnag SSP Altaf Khan said that the stone-pelters attacked the CRPF vehicle as well as a bike-borne jawans.

The slain were identified as head constable Nisar Ahmad and Constable Reyaz Ahmad of 164th battalion of CRPF.

The two injured have been identified as Roop Singh (Driver of Wanton) and policeman Rayees Qamar (pillion rider). The deceased CRPF men were in civvies and were both locals. However, "minor" stone pelting incidents were reported from Shopian area in which Constable Mohammad Amin was injured, it had said adding that he was shifted to hospital for treatment and is stated to be stable. As the driver lost control of the CRPF vehicle, it skidded off the road and overturned, killing two CRPF personnel on the spot.
