Niko Kovac is returning to Bayern Munich as coach next season after impressing at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bayern Munich came from behind to thrash Borussia Monchengladbach in their first Bundesliga game since wrapping up a sixth consecutive title.

"It was a surprise for us in this phase", Bobic said. "We exploited a hole he made in the contract with Kovac, which is very professional", Hoeness said, hinting at the reported €2.2 million ($2.7 million) release clause in Kovac's Frankfurt contract. Bayern have thought of themselves and not for a second about Eintracht Frankfurt".

"We had no interest at all except to protect Eintracht Frankfurt", Hoeness said.

The Berlin-born coach said a dream is coming true for him in getting the chance to work with a club like Bayern.

Kovac will need to adjust to instructing established stars at Bayern, rather than young players of promise still eager to learn, and he will be expected to maintain the club's high standards.

Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic said, "we lost to Real a year ago and meant to do better this time". He also had no contract offer, but it was the offer of a mutual conversation with us both, with Hasan he had met before.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge later echoed Hoeness' words. "It's stupid to suggest that we hold contract talks in front of 60 invited guests".

David Alaba scored the fourth goal in the 67th minute on a right-footed blast from outside the area, while substitute Robert Lewandowski put the finishing touch on the rout with a goal in the 82nd minute, just 13 minutes after taking the field.

"This season we have done better in the Champions League than last season".

"We will not slacken in the championship, we must maintain our rhythm", he said.

The Bavarians struggled to find a footing under manager Carlo Ancelotti at the start of the season, after losing to PSG in the Champions League, letting a two-goal lead slip against Wolfsburg and even losing to Hoffenheim. We played against Juventus and Barcelona at home in the first legs.

The 23-year-old striker has won an impressive 117 aerial duels for Frankfurt so far this season, with a success rate of 47%. "Many top worldwide coaches would bite off your hand for this job". It's a huge opportunity for him.
