Over-the-top, two-on-two basketball got a resurgence with NBA Playgrounds past year and indie dev Saber Interactive announced NBA Playgrounds 2 today, right when the hype train for the NBA playoffs is picking up steam.
Like last time, NBA Playgrounds 2 will include more than 200 current and retired NBA players, including Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Giannis "The Greek Freak" Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, DeMar DeRozan, Damian Lillard, Karl-Anthony Towns, Shaquille O'Neal, Magic Johnson, "Dr. J". Four-player online matches will also be introduced in NBA Playgrounds 2.
Single-player was also a big focus, which is why we developed the new Season Mode. You'll also collect special players depending on the team you choose to play with. From there, the Championship should be just within reach. Sabre Interactive is touting over 200 current and retired National Basketball Association players that are in-game to unlock via their card pack mechanic.
NBA Playgrounds 2 has been formally revealed to be coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. We looked at our tournaments that filled the blackboard in our office pitting one developer against another and very soon it became clear that we want to bring this competitive experience and spirit to you. NBA Playgrounds 2 raises the intensity of the series' over-the-top, two-on-two street action with a new line-up of online and local multiplayer game modes, as well as new courts from playgrounds across the world. New animations and facial animations have been added.
