Voters will vote on the two bond issues May 8. The consolidated Cherryvale will have a science, technology, engineering, arts and math concentration.
At a regular meeting, board members voted 10-1 to advance the finance committee's proposal.
Board member Carolyn Edwards suspected last week that the lack of a local finalist would be questioned.
As the Sheridan school board looks to replace its long-serving superintendent, some teachers and parents say they are eager for change and a leader who will be more representative of the district.
"Mr. Tate has met the tenure eligibility requirements set forth in school board policy 5.117", Director of Schools Jessie Kinsey wrote in a letter to board members. She started as a teacher in Fitchburg for 17 years, the last couple of which were also spent as an instructional coach for her peers.
Klasa, who died from lung cancer a year ago, was a beloved elementary art teacher and student advocate, and an art contest seemed a fitting tribute to her, school officials said.
Jim Haussler has been selected as the interim superintendent of Bismarck Public Schools.
Also at the meeting, the board recognized winners of the first annual Mary Klasa, "My School, My City" art contest. With his wife working for the district as a teacher and his children attending district schools, he felt like it was time to step up and get involved.
Some of the additional changes as of Wednesday night includes reduce elementary sections with more attritions, cutting the districts adult education community program, reducing funds to for the marching band, additional CSEA retirements, additional foundation aid and other state aid funds coming in.
Staff only wanted to buy three years' worth of workbooks for elementary students because their use varies from classroom to classroom, Loker said.
Smith said the disposal fee is a "placeholder" and may cost less if school staff get some money back on the used textbooks.
The fourth one, Dr. Kym LeBlanc-Esparza, is the superintendent of Newberg School District in Newberg, Oregon.
"If you don't have collaborative strategic partnership between the superintendent and the board of education and the teachers group and all of these other partners, then districts continue to waste time by starting over with some new initiative or some new individual", he said during the Tuesday meeting.
School board Chairman Myron Steere 3rd of Greenfield said he was glad to conclude the negotiations.
"I do not support fragmenting this board and distributing information any more than I see to be antagonistic and to divide this board", Finch said. "Remember this budget is different... we are a little bit hands tied from the state [this year] where this is our budget right now", said Carmello. Board member Jenna Rickenbach said that while kids need the 90-minute reading block, she also sees people's concerns that a part-time strings position would make it hard to have a sustainable strings program.
"Our justification, I believe, is rock solid", Chairman Larry Greear said.
