"The disturbing feature of the case is that the law and order machinery and the government officials were directly in league and under the influence of Kuldeep Singh", a bench of Chief Justice Dilip Bhosale and Justice Sunit Kumar had said on Friday.

However, the investigating agency could also seek Narco test for the victim, sources said. "We will examine the FIR and chargesheet filed by the UP police previous year to find out if there were any lapses, whether she was sexually assaulted by more men and if there were any attempts from police to save any one", said a senior CBI officer.
Earlier in July, the Himachal Pradesh High Court transferred the two cases to the CBI after the custodial death of Suraj Singh came to light.

On Saturday morning, the CBI team probing the matter had brought the victim to Lucknow for a medical examination, which was done at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital; subsequently, the sleuths took the victim to the CBI office, where she confronted the accused. Observing that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) report showed that the medical officers and police officers were hand in glove with the accused to save them, the court said since these officers have been arrested already why further investigation was needed to arrest the main accused.
