A potentially tragic accident involving a 9-year-old boy in a bounce house in Southern California is the latest harrowing incident to highlight the dangers the popular party attractions can pose.

Once the bounce house rolled onto the highway, the child fell out of it, KTLA reported. The boy was able to be rescued before suffering any further harm, however.

CBS Los Angeles spoke to witnesses who said the gust of wind looked like a tornado.

Sheriff's deputies responded to an area of the highway near Bartlett Avenue at about 3:12 p.m., officials said. The driver of the vehicle was unharmed, but police said he was "shook up from the ordeal". A bounce house in South California blew on to a nearby highway in strong winds.

In 2014, two upstate NY boys were thrown from a bounce house from 20 feet in the air. Inside the bounce house was the 9-year-old child.
