Now there is no ETA for the downtime or the patch, so we're just going to have to wait and see.

Unfortunately, the specific cause of the delay is unknown, however, until it's released, while all of this week's challenges may be live right now, some of them will not be obtainable until further notice.

Tweeting yesterday the Fortnite official Twitter account posted: "We've discovered an issue that's going to delay the release of v4.2".

But in their latest Fortnite server update on Tuesday the Fortnite team said: "v4.2 is releasing tomorrow, May 16".

On the Fortnite Reddit page Epic Games revealed that patch notes for Fortnite update 4.2 will be released once downtime begins.

The new assault rifle variations seem to have showed up on Fortnite Tracker some time ago, with damage ratings and all the other stats you could want shown for both epic and legendary versions.

Also, the removal of the Infinity Gauntlet Mode is a big change a'happening, as the limited edition mashup comes to an end.

It was meant to last for a week but has run just a little over that.

Pundits have predicted a new Burst Assault rifle will be thrown into the mix with the update for PS4, Xbox One and mobile, after being bombarded with hints as they now played Battle Royale.

Epic Games may be planning to launch Fortnite, its hit battle royale game, on Nintendo Switch.

Fortnite-mania is now taking over the world, with the battle royale version of the game undoubtedly the biggest in recent memory.
