Ninja Proves He's a Solo Squad Master After Winning 1v7

Today we're revealing our new Limited Time Mode: Solo Showdown.

Solo Showdown simply acts as a sort of competitive mode in Fortnite Battle Royale. They feel that a competitive mode is in the pipeline over at Epic Games. FI also added, "The lack of "Playlist_Comp_Duos" and "Playlist_Comp_Squads" files suggests that it'd only be available for Solo play, though this may be done as a way to test things out before rolling it out to Duos and Squads at a later date". Epic Games explains that this new mode will allow players to take part in a "hotly contested" experience, as players will be facing off against other "self selected competitors" which presumably means anyone who has queued up to play. It's not yet clear how the mode will work in terms of cross-platform play (whether iOS players are measured directly against console or PC players, or they get their own rankings).

When it comes to the scoring system, finishing first place within a match will award you 100 points while finishing 20th place within a match will award you 50 points. It doesn't change the core gameplay of the current Solo mode as previously mentioned.

Placements in this limited time mode will be specially tracked and determine rewards you receive at the end of the event. That's right, the players who top the leaderboards by the end of the event will get a share of a big prize pot. "To thank you for participating, play 50 games and get a unique spray". The Solo Showdown rules say that 50 matches are needed to enter the competition, with first place obtaining 50,000 V-Bucks.
