"We think that the next spinoff will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian", Kathleen Kennedy said. Kennedy instead said something akin to the Lando Calrissian movie being something she'd like to do some day, but there are no concrete plans for it to be the next spin-off just yet.
"But LucasFilm has since corrected the quote, with a rep telling Gizmodo "[Kennedy] said it's something she'd like to do one day in the future". Even Premiere and ComicBook both note the long-gestating chatter around an Obi-Wan film.
See original story below. Lucasfilm has clearly been long aware of his appeal, as the video of Glover giving a tour of Lando's Millennium Falcon (cape room included) was created to give fans exactly what they want. Fantasies of Old Republic history lessons have resulted in the realities of Rogue One and Solo. Right now, Donald Glover is absolutely on fire and he's being singled out as the best thing about Solo.
Meanwhile, Ehrenreich has revealed that he is under contract for two more "Star Wars" films, meaning his Han Solo could very well appear in a future Lando standalone film. The Lando hype continued as more teasers and stills were dropped, and according to critics who have seen the film already-including Vanity Fair's K. Austin Collins, Glover lives up to the hype. We'll always show up for Han and Chewie, but the early buzz suggests Lucasfilm picked the wrong sidekick to take center stage. We can now add a Lando movie to the list of films we expect to see, with no idea when we actually expect to see them.
But if Glover did get his own Star Wars movie, would anyone be surprised?
