However, Trump won't land on just a single issue impacting kids, alternatively enlarging the stage to comprise other key-note causes.

From challenges facing children to the opiod epidemic, a look at First Lady Melania Trump's policy agenda.

First Lady Melania Trump held a press conference to announce her formal platform on May 7, telling reporters that she's dedicating her time in the White House to helping the nation's children. Something unique though: "She has not narrowed her platform down to just one topic as has been done in the past", Stephanie Grisham told CNN. Mrs. Trump wishes to help the next generation by creating change through awareness on a variety of issues that affect children. She also represented the administration at the April funeral of former first lady Barbara Bush.

For Trump, who didn't go for the WhiteHouse fulltime until June of the last calendar year, settling on an definitive initiative has taken a relatively longer amount of time compared with a of her recent predecessors.

Trump has visited children's hospitals, both here and overseas, and she has also visited universities, for example one in MI last October, where she recently invited centre schoolers to clinic understanding and self confidence.

"I always believe that you need to treat each other with respect and kindness and compassion, but also stay true to yourself", she told students in a visit to MI, per CNN. "Just listen to your heart, but be yourself", Trump told the children.

USA first ladies traditionally choose and focus on a single social issue of national interest.

"Thank you in advance for sharing your stories and your thoughts about your struggles and triumphs".

"I do believe that children should be both seen and heard, and it is our responsibility as adults to educate and remind them that when they are using their voices - whether verbally or online - they must choose their words wisely and speak with respect and compassion", the first lady said.

Trump has promised to tackle cyberbullying as first lady, hosting major online and social media companies at the White House earlier this year.

The campaign will focus on the issues of well-being, social media and opioid abuse, she said.

The first lady will "highlight the importance of using social media and the internet in positive ways", her office said, pointing to a study that claims children who spend more time on new media are more likely to report mental health issues than those who spend time on other activities.

"I will continue to travel and speak to children directly about both their victories and hard realities they face, said Trump".
