The Huskers lost 87-63 at Villanova in 2015, and 79-56 at St. John's last season.

Lincoln - Nebraska will welcome Seton Hall to Lincoln for the first time in school history as the Big Ten and Big East conferences announced the pairings for the 2018 Gavitt Tipoff Games on Tuesday.

The Gavitt Tipoff Games schedule begins on Tuesday, Nov. 13, with Georgetown playing at IL and Wisconsin traveling to Xavier. The Huskers and Pirates will face off Wednesday, Nov. 14, at a time to be announced. The Nov. 14 matchups include Marquette at IN and Seton Hall at Nebraska as well as the Michigan-Villanova game. All games will be televised on FS1 or BTN.

Seton Hall comes off a 22-12 season when the Pirates reached the second round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual Final Four qualifier Kanas.

The 2018 game will be the first home contest for Nebraska in the series.

Seton Hall is coming off a third consecutive 20-win season and NCAA Tournament appearance and will return one starter from this past season, 2018 Big East Most Improved Player Myles Powell.

Ohio State visits Creighton and Penn State is at DePaul on November 15.

The unique series between the two conferences was named to honor the late Dave Gavitt, the founder of the Big East Conference and basketball visionary.

This will be the third time the Illini have been a featured team in the Gavitt Games, they beat DePaul a year ago and lost at Providence in 2015. Teams from both conferences already meet in some traditional rivalry games, and those matchups will continue in the upcoming seasons.
