If we talk about pricing, the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version is priced at 999 yuan (Rs. 10,560 approx.) in China.
Indian smartphone market is expected to continue to show double digit growth in 2018, on the back of popularity of budget phones and vendors increasing their focus to make phones as well as high value components locally despite pressure on margins, said analysts at International Data Corporation (IDC) India. The new Redmi handset was seen in the teaser by Xiaomi in various social media channels, though not many details were revealed. The smartphone manufacturing giant has targeted all the price points with a wide range of devices, from the Redmi series and Mi line of phones.
However, the smartphone might be launched with a different moniker and that too under the Redmi Y series in India and could be called as the Redmi Y2. Xiaomi retained its top smartphone brand position with a substantial 30.3% market share widening the gap between itself and the second smartphone brand. The smartphone was earlier launched in China as Redmi S2.
In addition to the selfie camera, Xiaomi Redmi S2 also houses a dual-camera setup at the rear which is a combination of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. The report also said that the share growth of the online channel within smartphone market rose from to 34.2 percent in 2017Q4 to 36.0 percent in 2018Q1.
"The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is a 5.99" phone with an HD+ resolution. Apart from eliminating the aspect ratio of 18: 9, the screen size extends to 74.5% of body ratio. It packs a 3,080mAh battery.
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 sports similar design as the Redmi Note 5 Pro, but the antenna bands on the top and bottom are clearly visible. On the front, it has a 16MP selfie shooter equipped with AI portrait and AI beauty mode to give you lovely selfies. OPPO, following the footsteps of Xiaomi, conducted its first flash sale exclusive on Flipkart ahead of F7 launch. It appears that the company is flooding the sub-10K category with its own smartphones.
