He said: 'I apologise, I am really very sorry. I think that we will know my future this week. I have made my choice.

"However, today is not the time, nor the place, to say what it is".

The 27-year-old is expected to clarify where he will be plying his trade next season before the start of the World Cup in Russian Federation on Thursday.

Griezmann is set to once again be France's talisman in a major tournament, after leading his country to the final of the European Championships two years ago.
