Canadian police say at least 24 people injured in bus crash

Provincial police have closed the westbound lanes of the highway between Edward Street and Maitland Road. The remaining 13 passengers were taken by bus to an unknown location. The report also says many are without vital signs. The only injuries I could see without becoming distracted as a driver were some passengers holding bloody noses and what appeared to be facial injuries.

Ontario Provincial Police on site confirmed to Radio Canada reporter Frédéric Pepin that there were 37 passengers on the bus and that the vehicle had collided with a rock wall.

"It definitely looked very surreal and chaotic", said the man who would only give his name as Robert.

"We have a Mandarin translator onsite to support them", it added in a post.

Joshua McNamara, a spokesman for Ontario's air ambulance service, said that it flew three people farther west to Kingston.

Emergency crews are responding to the scene of a collision in eastern Ontario involving multiple people.

A bus crash on the 401 near Prescott has reportedly injured up to 40 people.

"Our thoughts are with all those affected by this accident".

PC Leader Doug Ford, NDP leader Andrea Horwath and Premier Kathleen Wynne have commented on the crash, thanking the first responders who are on the scene.
