E3 2018: Development Still Hasn't Really Started on Beyond Good & Evil 2

A sinister-looking Jade was debuted in the latest cinematic trailer for Beyond Good & Evil 2, while revealing a new collaborative partnership with HitRECord.

At the end of the trailer, Ubisoft re-introduced Jade - the main character of the original Beyond Good and Evil game.

"Beyond Good and Evil 2", announced at last year's E3, is a prequel to 2003's "Beyond Good and Evil"; it's in development at Ubisoft Montpellier. In Beyond Good & Evil 2, you are your own space pirate captain and you are free to choose your own path in this vast open universe.

No gameplay was shown, but the game will have a demo at E3. We get a glimpse at the ship's sick bay, which is filled with crew members who've fallen sick and drunk from the cook's "miraculous space chili".

The game itself isn't shipping for a while (probably a long while since it's in "pre-alpha"), but as part of the rollout anyone can create art and music and submit them to the hitRECord website. "There are lots of legends in the universe of Beyond Good and Evil 2 about this young girl slaying pirates - hunting down pirates in this universe - so everybody's afraid of that young girl", says associate creative director Emile Morel.

This seems to paint Beyond Good and Evil 2 as a game that, if nothing else, will be painting a picture of how Jade became who she was in the first title.

Ubisoft plans to keep eager players interested with their 'Space Monkey Program', providing regular updates and, rather boldly, giving fans the chance to upload content to be included in the game. It has no known release date.
