Fiery Alli vows to keep cool at World Cup

With the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation drawing ever closer, England manager Gareth Southgate has come up with an innovative way to keep things fresh in the England camp.

Southgate praised Pickford's distribution and calmness in the warm-up game with fellow World Cup qualifiers Nigeria at Wembley, which England won 2-1.

Dele Alli insists that his previous disciplinary issues will not be a problem when England head to the World Cup.

First-half goals from Gary Cahill and captain Harry Kane helped England to victory at Wembley in their penultimate warm-up match before taking on Tunisia, Panama and Belgium in Group G in Russian Federation.

Southgate provided an insight into his likely XI for the Group G opener with Tunisia on 18 June, against Nigeria last weekend.

Dawson did have one main criticism of Southgate's selection: he would have taken Joe Hart, the goalkeeper, as he believes the three chosen glovesmen - Jordan Pickford, Jack Butland and Nick Pope - are too young.

England are due to finish their preparations for the World Cup with a friendly against Costa Rica in Leeds on 7 June.

"I was really pleased with what Jordan did", the England manager told British media.

The numbers to be worn on the back on the players' shirts were announced today, and thankfully there are no faux pas.

"We played against a team with five in the back. He can be very pleased with his performance".

England's midfielder Dele Alli (L) vies with Nigeria's midfielder Ogenyi Onazi during the global friendly football match between England and Nigeria at Wembley stadium in London on June 2, 2018.
