While her character looks meek and unassuming in the wide shot - which pictures a Wiig as a curly-haired, simply dressed civilian - surrounding statues of lions, giraffes, and antelope foreshadow her predatory tendencies. Minerva, he wrote, "emulates Wonder Woman, then seeks to usurp her".

The anticipated DC flick Wonder Woman 1984 has come through with the first official look at Kristen Wiig's character, Cheetah.

Our first look at Kristen Wiig in the highly anticipatedWonder Woman 2 has arrived. However, her somewhat mousy, feminine appearance suggests she's not the adventurous type.

In the comics, Diana and Barbara are close friends before Barbara becomes her archnemesis, lending their struggle an extra layer of tragedy.

"Wonder Woman 1984" is scheduled to open November 1, 2019.

Jenkins and star Gal Gadot previously shared images of Gadot as Diana and Chris Pine reprising his role as Steve Trevor (how!).

Maybe this is the beginning of her story which is why she looks so normal, or maybe she's just really good at pretending to not be a supervillain.

Production is underway in D.C., Alexandria, Virginia, as well as overseas in the United Kingdom, Spain and the Canary Islands. Pedro Pascal ("Game of Thrones") is also joining the cast.

Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman's next big screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah.

While the character has seen many iterations throughout comic book history, one current speculation is that Wiig will play Minerva as an anthropologist who comes upon the lost city of Urzkartagan and is transformed into Cheetah in a ritual.
