Martial has grown increasingly disillusioned under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford and will seek a transfer this summer in what could prove a potential collision course.
Independent.ie have been told that Tottenham are eager to sign Martial and with United now struggling to find agreement with Spurs in their efforts to sign Belgian centre-back Toby Alderwiereld, the comments from Lamboley could pave the way for a deal that suits both clubs.
And while Martial's agent Philippe Lamboley assures that United are keen to keep him at the club, he feels the time is right for a change.
Lamboley told French outlet RMC:: "After thinking about all the possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United".
"Manchester United wanted to offer Anthony a contract extension and don't want him to leave, but we haven't been able to reach an agreement after several months of talks", he added.
I think that when Man United, who are the most powerful club, can not come to an agreement after eight months it is because they really don't want to make him a key player. That's why this decision has come - it's a well-thought-out decision. "It is clear and it is very important to remember that he is under contract, Manchester United have the last word and that we will respect the decision of the club, he will go after his commitment".
Lamboley said Martial, who joined United for £36m in September 2015, was "disappointed because he has shown his love for the club and the supporters for three seasons". It is important to remember that this season he scored 11 goals and gave ten assists in five months. "Anthony just wants to play, find pleasure, feeling with the coach will be essential".
Sky Sports have also reiterated reports that Tottenham are poised for a transfer after this week's comments.
