In Mahoning County, a license has been awarded to Quest Wellness Ohio II LLC to operate in Youngstown on Market Street.
The Board of Pharmacy is expected on Monday to name who will get the licenses in 28 geographic districts. Neither could be reached Monday by The Vindicator to comment.
Medical marijuana dispensaries could be selling to approved patients later this year.
"The Board of Pharmacy engaged in a thorough, fair and transparent evaluation process for selecting provisional licensees", said State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy Executive Director Steven W. Schierholt.
Hanging Gardens OH, LLC on South Avenue in Youngstown, was disqualified.
Also, FarmaceuticalRX LLC at 1865 Dresden Ave.in East Liverpool received a license. "We do have the authority to review if there needs to be more licenses allocated on a graphic basis". A total of 376 applications were received.
The medical marijuana can only be obtained for 21 medical conditions and obtained from a state-licensed dispensary with a doctor's prescription.
It is among three businesses to receive a dispensary license in a region that includes Columbiana, Stark, Carroll and Tuscarawas counties.
Marijuana products will be sold at two sites in Cincinnati.
Other southwestern OH locations approved for selling marijuana for medical purposes are located in Columbia Township, Seven Mile, Monroe, Lebanon and Hillsboro.
The board has been getting background checks and verifying that proposed locations are at least 500 feet from schools and churches.
