A cyclist armed with a "zombie knife" who tried to attack a motorist during an apparent road rage incident is being hunted by police as it emerged that the banned blades can still be bought over the internet.
Dashcam footage captures the horrifying moment the young man sprinted after a Volkswagen Polo on a busy high street in Croydon, before trying to break through the driver's side window in a frenzied assault.
The incident took place after the Volkswagen nearly hit the cyclist while trying to pull out into traffic.
The cyclist then reveals a large knife, which appears to be a blade commonly used for hunting.
A crowd of commuters watch on in horror as the violent thug continues his brazen attack while the driver cowers inside, the vehicle seemingly unable to reverse.
After smashing one of the windows on the passenger side, the terrified driver escapes the vehicle and runs away while the cyclist calmly returns to his bicycle.
Anyone who recognises the man in the video, or who witnessed the incident and has information which could help police, is urged to call 101.
'The victim later returned to his vehicle after the suspect made off.
The man on the bike then pulls out a huge zombie knife and attacks the vehicle, kicking it and trying to use the knife to smash the windows.
Scotland Yard identified the victim as a 19-year-old man and said he didn't sustain any injuries in the attack. "He was followed by the suspect", the officer added. At least 37 people have been fatally stabbed - and 62 overall killed - in the city of London since the beginning of the year.
