The base 15-inch MacBook Pro costs $2,799, but if you want to swap the 2.9GHz 6-core 8th-gen Intel Core i7 for a 2.9GHz 6-core Intel Core i9 that will cost you an extra $300. It includes Apple T2 Chip and provides up to 4TB of SSD storage. Interestingly, consumers don't have to wait long to purchase them in Malaysia though as these new notebooks are available for order through Apple Malaysia's website. On top of those weighty responsibilities, the T2 lets the new MacBook Pros handle "Hey Siri" invocations for the first time.
First off, Apple's new MacBook Pros come with True Tone displays that can adapt the screen based on your room temperature. The 15-inch model can be configured with up to 4 TB of SSD storage, while the 13-inch model is limited to a maximum of 2 TB. While the smaller machine uses Intel's Iris Plus 655 integrated graphics, the larger one offers Radeon Pro 555X or 560X configurations, with the ability to fall back to Intel UHD Graphics 630 to conserve power. In the United States, the new MacBook Pro models go on sale from Thursday and start at $1,799 for the 13-inch model, with the 15-inch model starting at $2,399. Sure, Apple will occasionally debut new watchbands, but the overall design of the casing and display itself has remained exactly the same. The notebook also features Radeon Pro graphics, a large Force Touch trackpad, Touch Bar and Touch ID, dynamic stereo speakers, a quiet Apple-designed cooling system and Thunderbolt 3 for data transfer, charging and connecting up to two 5K displays or four external GPUs.
The starting price for the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar is $1799, the same as before.
The entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar didn't get an update, and neither did the thin-and-light MacBook nor the more low-cost MacBook Air. In some cases, the entire logic board needed to be replaced, which includes the processor, RAM, and storage.
Kuo, who has correctly predicted Apple product launches in the past, believes Apple will overhaul its line of Mac computers, MacBooks and the Mac Mini. Apple has some new MacBook Pro leather sleeves to go with the notebook, too, in Saddle Brown, Midnight Blue, and Black.
