Wal-Mart is under fire after its website offered T-shirts from third-party sellers with "IMPEACH 45" emblazoned across the front in big capital letters - a call to bring down the 45th US president, Donald Trump.
These articles of clothing have ignited a rallying cry from the President's legion of supporters, who find the sloganeering to be disrespectful. Walmart also sold clothing and paraphernalia promoting the impeachment of former President Barack Obama.
Of course, this proliferation of indignation has been criticized by the current Commander in Chief's dissenters, who think the #BoycottWalmart movement is one-dimensional.
Walmart's "Impeach 45" apparel causes stir on social media.
Ryan Fournier, chairman of the organization Students For Trump, brought the products to public attention with a tweet Tuesday evening.
The line of apparel also sells on Amazon.com and through Old Glory's own website. Last year, Walmart came under fire for selling a shirt that read "Rope. Tree. Journalist. Some assembly required", after facing massive backlash.
"As a fierce proponent of the First Amendment that is politically nonpartisan, we recognize Walmart's right to sell the T-Shirts, and the right of consumers to purchase and wear them", the group's executive director Dan Shelley wrote in his letter to the retailer.
Teespring had their shirts pulled off the Walmart website days later.
