Mario Kart 8 Adds Breath of the Wild Link, Master Cycle Zero

Nintendo confirmed in a recent statement that there would be more Mario Kart 8 Deluxe updates.

The Master Cycle Zero has also been added as a vehicle, along with the Ancient Tires and Paraglider.

In the update, a new playable character: Link, from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been added. This is a free update that is immediately available. He drives on the Master Cycle Zero, an item from the expansion of Breath of the Wild.

Zelda Breath of the Wild was the highlight release alongside the Nintendo Switch release in March previous year and went on to become not only one of the best-selling games on the system but the best selling Zelda game period.

This week Nintendo quietly announced they would be bringing more content to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and today we find out what is hopefully the first of many arrivals. The Master Cycle Zero from Breath of the Wild.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold 9.22 million copies as of March 31, which makes it the second-most commercially successful game for the console, only behind Super Mario Odyssey (10.41 million copies sold). Just fire the game up, and the Switch will prompt you to download the update.

With the Nintendo Switch Online paid service rapidly approaching, Nintendo is likely trying to encourage players to sign up by releasing new content for their leading online titles.

The update also includes unspecified "revisions to improve gameplay", as well as some unlister content, according to Nintendo's support website.
