When used with the Surface Go's built-in kickstand, it provides a reliable laptop-esque typing setup.

The Microsoft Surface Go is a teeny-tiny laptop/tablet hybrid with a 10-inch screen, clocking in at just 1.15 pounds.

Preorders start tomorrow, July 10th, with shipments scheduled to begin in early August.

Panay further says, "Our new Surface Go Signature Type Cover is custom-made for Surface Go integrating design features that give the user the best typing experience possible, with ergonomic key pitch and exceptional key travel". Beyond a hardware refresh for Microsoft's other Surface devices, the "Type Cover set" line suggests that it has to be a Surface tablet coming to market.

Microsoft's Surface computers are quite popular, but unfortunately, they are quite expensive too. The device will be available in the following countries: US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Taiwan, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Malaysia, and Thailand.

When can you buy Surface Go?

Based on my brief time with it, the Surface Go's Type Cover feels just as comfortable as its larger siblings. The company tweeted out the leading question "Where will Surface go next?" along with an image of the full lineup - the Pro, Laptop, Book 2 and swiveling all-in-one Studio.

It's also touted as running on a Pentium Gold processor at its top end and support for Windows 10 Pro.

Judging by price and size, it's clear that the new Surface Go is a direct competitor to the 9.7-inch 6th generation Apple iPad that retails for slightly less than Microsoft's tablet.

Then, more details about the $400 Surface tablet, which is apparently called Surface Go, emerged last week.

The base model of the Surface Go that includes 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of SSD carries a price tag of $399.

Finally, we should note that the Surface Go is not now offered with 4G LTE support and you can only get a Wi-Fi one, while iPads are offered in both styles.

What might this new Surface device offer? Microsoft promises the Surface Go can handle productivity apps like Office and casual apps like Spotify and Netflix. Each of these models come in Wi-Fi-only network configurations.

So Microsoft Malaysia has just announced Surface Go's availability for Malaysia on 2 August 2018, there's no local price revealed yet but in the US the manufacturer's suggested retail price is just $399.
