In a statement, Kensington Palace said: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share a new photograph of Prince George to mark His Royal Highness's fifth birthday tomorrow".

Only last week, the royal family released photos of Prince Louis's christening.

On Prince George's birthday, we look back at his cutest ever moments; from his many Buckingham Palace appearances to the time he met Barack Obama in his dressing gown, Prince George is one of the world's most adorable (and famous) tots.

George is the eldest son of Prince William and wife Kate Middleton, followed by Charlotte three, and three-month-old Louis.

With that in mind, please enjoy this new birthday photo of your future ruler Prince George.
