According to the Facebook page created for the canine celebrity from Anoka, Minnesota, Zsa Zsa passed away in her sleep overnight.
The nine-year-old English Bulldog whose lolling tongue and crooked underbite made her the victor back in June died in her sleep, the post stated. "It's probably going to be the same with her passing". Soon after, the Brainards found her on PetFinder.com.
The dog mom said she named Zsa Zsa after the Hungarian actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, as the pup enjoyed lounging on the couch "like a attractive model".
Zsa Zsa' winnings included $1,500, "a very large trophy" and a flight to NY, where she and Brainard appeared on the "Today" show.
"She knew she was special", Brainard told the Today show. "We were all saying our goodbyes".
She took home first prize - a trophy, $1,500 ($AU2020) in prize winnings and the hearts of everyone.
The dog won the ugliness title at a contest last month in Petaluma, California.
"From the moment we saw her handsome face, we knew we would be her forever home", Brainard said at the time. "She never really showed much excitement, but yes, she was definitely living it up after she won", her owner said.
