I haven't played well enough when it has counted, admits Rory McIlroy

Woods, the headliner in an all-star group with four-times major victor Rory McIlroy and defending champion Justin Thomas, got off to a horrific bogey, double-bogey start and spent the rest of his round undoing the damage to salvage a level-par 70.

Woods, who will play in his 14th tournament this year after returning from a fourth back surgery, a spinal fusion, over a year ago, did not get specific when asked about the ice baths, saying only it was the third time this year he has done so.

Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka and Francesco Molinari won the Masters, US Open and The Open respectively, and they tee off at 7.15pm.

The broadcaster has the rights to the 2018 PGA Championship, La Liga, Serie A, Eredivisie, Chinese Super League and Swedish Allsvenskan in the UK. I haven't closed out those tournaments as I would have liked, but at least I'm putting myself in position, and that's all I can do.

"That's the hardest thing. now, I'm tearing up".

"I always have hope", Fowler said. I played in a lot of final groups and I haven't played well enough when it's counted. I didn't really have those issues when I was early in my career because I didn't have a fixed point in my back.

Thomas talked about getting himself back into contention.

In the search for a "modern headquarters setting" the PGA of America has been in discussions to partner with Frisco, Texas on a new headquarters and golf facility capable of more close interaction with major corporations and hosting future PGAs or a Ryder Cup.

The 14-time Major victor finished second behind Paul Casey in the Valspar Championship in March and was in contention at Bay Hill the following week before driving out of bounds on the 16th hole of the final round.

"You certainly get thrown at the deep end straight away in a group like that", McIlroy said.

"I've definitely become a little more rotational in my swing over the past couple of years, and some of that is through bad habit and some of that is through injury", he said, adding that the only major he feels he had a real chance to win since 2014 was The Open at Carnoustie last month.

"We'll see", said Woods, who only played five holes before his practice round Tuesday was wiped out by thunderstorms.

But on Tuesday it was Thomas Bjørn, with four captain's picks for his European squad to take on the United States in Paris next month, who was quizzed about Woods.
