Everton have had a busy final day of the English transfer window, completing the triple signing of Bernard, Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes.

Manchester United had been competing with the Toffees for Mina, but the Old Trafford club pulled out of negotiations that morning.

Gomes and Mina could be registered in time to face Wolves in the Premier League opener this Saturday, but that game may come too soon for them as they look to bed in at Everton.

There was a predictably frantic conclusion to the last hours of business, the Premier League waiting to register ten players after the 5pm deadline, deal sheets submitted pending medicals and the agreement of personal terms.

Colombia defender Mina, who impressed in the World Cup, could eventually cost €31.75million, while Gomes arrives on a season-long loan.

"For me, it was really good to speak to him because I know how good he is and I feel motivated to work with him and to play for Everton, a great club".

Everton were desparate for a solid center-back after Ashley Williams moved to Stoke City and used their strong connections with Barcelona to secure the deal.

The 23-year-old only joined Barcelona from Palmeiras in the January transfer window.

Mina, for whom Barca have retained a buy-back option, said the chance to play alongside Gomes and Lucas Digne - who made the same switch last week - played a part in his decision to join Marco Silva's men.

All of the Everton and Fulham dealings materialised close to the deadline, while the early stages of the day were dominated by Chelsea, who confirmed Mateo Kovacic's arrival after signing Kepa Arrizabalaga late on Wednesday. "He is a good guy and we want to do our best for Everton".
