Fetus found on American Airlines plane at LaGuardia Airport in NY

A dead fetus was found on a plane that flew to NY from Charlotte Monday night.

FOX5 NY reports that the cleaning crew found the baby inside the bathroom of the plane, in the toilet. An attendant noticed a large amount of toilet paper in one of the plane's lavatory toilets. Sources told NBC New York that the fetus appears to have been 5 to 6 months old.

According to sources, Flight 1942 from Charlotte, North Carolina, arrived at Terminal B on Monday around 10:44 p.m.

American Airlines has confirmed an investigation is underway, and released the following statement.

LaGuardia Airport warned via Twitter shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday that flyers traveling out of B gates may experience some delays because of an "out of service airplane", which was code for police activity surrounding the plane.

But a spokesman for the airline said, "We have no major impact to our operation this morning while we are working with law enforcement on an investigation".

They instead turned all questions over to the Queens District Attorney's Office which is yet to make a statement.

NY reported the plane, flight number 1942, departed Charlotte, NC on Monday night and arrived at LaGuardia late Monday night.
