The CEO of a San Francisco real estate company and four others died when a private plane he was piloting crashed into a a Southern California parking lot, according to the Orange County coroner.

The Federal Aviation Administration revealed that the pilot called an emergency before the plane crashed.

A spokesperson for Pacific Union revealed all of the passengers on the aircraft were employees of the real estate company. They said she was 29 years old. Her family confirmed the flight was a business trip.

Photos from the scene showed the plane upright but on its belly and the vehicle damaged.

The plane crashed just a block away from the mall.

The FAA launched an investigation into the crash and added that the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the cause.

A medical group has been established to handle patient care and treatment, said the Orange County Fire Authority.
