Idris Elba teases fans amid James Bond casting rumors

Craig has had great success in the iconic role

Idris Elba appears to have mocked continued rumours he is in line to take over as the star of the James Bond franchise, following the latest round of media speculation linking him to the role.

The actor posted a filtered selfie - only featuring the top part of his face - with the words "my name's Elba, Idris Elba".

Idris Elba has - possibly? - given his two cents on the rumors that he's been floated as a new James Bond. As fans of Bond know, that's almost exactly like the iconic "Bond, James Bond".

Elba's name has now been linked to the Bond franchise for nearly a decade, during which time Daniel Craig has starred in three films in the series.

"My name's Elba, Idris Elba", he tweeted early on Sunday.

The latest slew of Elba-Bond rumors comes after a report in the United Kingdom tabloid The Daily Star, which quoted director Antoine Fuqua as saying that Elba was, yet again, in the running for the role.

But before fans go overboard, Elba posted another tweet a few hours later saying, "Don't believe the HYPE". "You need a guy with physically strong presence".

Fuqua told The Daily Star,"Idris could do it if he was really tight and in shape".

Craig will return for the fifth time as Bond in 2019, in an as yet unnamed movie directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle. According to the report, Fuqua said that Elba could fit the bill.
