United 'Hopeful' Of Completing Alderweireld Move

Sky Sports reported on Thursday that Tottenham Hotspur were open to listening to offers for Mousa Dembele, Toby Alderweireld, and Danny Rose.

Leicester City refuted United's enquiry, with Maguire a genuine second choice; and Mourinho's frustration on the recent tour of the USA was visible to all to see. Spurs were adamant in asking £75m for the defender, but United weren't keen to shell out as much.

This summer the club have also since signed Clement Lenglet from Sevilla, a move that would make first-team opportunities for Mina even more hard.

Manchester United have been searching desperately for a defender.

Manchester United had appeared to be in pole position to sign Mina but recent reports have suggested they have switched their attentions back to Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld.

Alderweireld would represent the signing Mourinho has been chasing for a while - a proven, experienced leader who can solidify a shaky defence.

Mourinho has told the Old Trafford board that he needs a high-class centre-back with experience after signing Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof - and now it appears the Portuguese has finally got his man after playing the waiting game.

The Belgian global struggled to secure first team football at Spurs last season as Mauricio Pochettino opted for Davinson Sanchez alongside Jan Vertonghen for much of the campaign amid a contract stand-off with the club.

The 83-time capped Belgium global is expected to finalize his move to the Old Trafford in the next couple of days.

The defender did have a strong 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign, as he played an important hand in leading Belgium to the third-place finish in this summer's showpiece event.
