Apple announces 12 September for iPhone launch event - High-End Smartphones

The company will unveil its renewed iPhone strategy at the event. "In addition, Apple is said to be releasing an affordable 6.1" version that uses an LCD screen which would come in a variety of body colours.

Notorious Apple blog 9to5Mac has published what it says are official Apple marketing images of the still unreleased and unconfirmed devices.

Apple Inc (AAPL.O) said on Thursday it will host an event on September 12 at the Steve Jobs Theater in the company's Cupertino, California, campus, where it is widely expected to unveil new iPhone models. Apple unveiled it AirPower charging station previous year, so Apple could announce on September 12 that it will finally ship. The 6.5-inch model would be the largest iPhone to date, and the 6.1-inch model would be a new, less-expensive model for customers to consider.

A second rumored new entry promises the same 5.8-inch size screen as the X, only with more robust specs.

All the 2018-series iPhones are coming with new generation 7nm Apple 12 processor and improved True Depth front-camera with FaceID capability.

Later on Thursday, website 9to5Mac published photos of two new iPhones and a new Apple Watch.

One of the three new phones is expected to bear an edge-to-edge display similar to the iPhone X but using less-costly LCD screen technology.

The company is also said to be planning a MacBook Air with a lower price tag, slimmer display bezels and a Retina display, and a Mac Mini with higher specifications.

Beyond the iPhones, Apple has been working on updated AirPods, an AirPower wireless charger, a new Apple Watch, and revamped iPad Pro tablets for this year.

Most notable was its edge-to-edge display with a "notch" or cutout housing the device's front-facing sensors. Also, the company is expected more products.

All the phones could also include gesture controls and Apple's Face ID unlocking system, and 3D Touch might be stripped off from at least one of the devices.
