Instead, the Browns will be promoting defensive coordinator Gregg Williams to the position.

Baker Mayfield #6 of the Cleveland Browns tells to the crowd to be quiet after the Browns scored a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on September 30, 2018 in Oakland, California.

The Cleveland Browns reportedly fired head coach Hue Jackson on Monday, a day after a blowout loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Williams and Saunders both have previous head coaching experience. Despite the fact that Jackson recently said he was going to take a "bigger role" in offensive decisions, he said there was no animosity between him and Haley. He struggled handling then-rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer last season and seemingly didn't have a great relationship with the future face of the Browns' franchise. They tied Pittsburgh in Week 1, but were beaten 33-18 on Sunday by the Steelers. Before being hired by the Browns, Haley spent six seasons as the offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh.

"There's nothing wrong with my relationship with Haley", Jackson said. I said I wanted to help. "We need to coach better, we need to play better". The 51-year-old offensive coordinator was canned after just eight games and a total of 10 months. Jackson is going to get fired - probably later rather than sooner, much to the chagrin of many fans - and he's going to make this awkwardly ugly on his way out.
