DeMarcus Cousins gets technical from bench and thrown out

Steve Kerr: DeMarcus Cousins to Play 'David West Role'

Warriors vs. Knicks highlights: DeMarcus Cousins ejected from game despite being inactive and in street clothes

DeMarcus Cousins was in street clothes on Friday night at Madison Square Garden for the Golden State Warriors' matchup against the New York Knicks. He assessed Cousins a technical foul and threw him out of the game. He doesn't have to rush back from his injury and gets to take his time knowing that he's on the best team in the National Basketball Association.

Two technical fouls lead to an automatic ejection.

Cousins, who signed a one-year deal with the Warriors during the off-season, has also earned 119 technical fouls during his career. First, he was talking to Knicks center Enes Kanter while he was on the bench.

Second, Cousins then was warned by official Scott Foster to stop talking to Kanter.

"I think he was jawing, maybe with Kanter, I think, and then I asked Scott and he said because he had already warned him and he kept going at Scott I guess", Kerr told reporters, via The Athletic. "I'll talk to him about it-I gotta hear from Demarcus what happened and we'll talk it out".

After a Golden State timeout late in the first quarter, Cousins - who is recovering from an Achilles injury last season and has still not made his debut this year with the Warriors - got into an argument with referee Scott Foster. There is still no target date for his return, but Warriors personnel are pleased with what they have seen.
